I wanted to start a new thread on VMware vSphere migrations to different hypervisors. I am hoping this will spark some good conversations on insights you all have on what organizations you see in production are doing, which hypervisor they are choosing, and what hurdles, snags, or success tips you have seen, including tools, solutions, and services used for migrations.

Tossing this out there.....hoping to see some good discussions.

Are you looking for a hypervisor to move to from VMware? Check out XCP-ng. It is a great open-source hypervisor that has reasonable subscription options and a vCenter Server-like management experience with Xen Orchestra. Check out my walkthrough on how to migrate from VMware to XCP-ng here:

More thoughts: This has been the biggest news of 2024 so far and is affecting so many across the board - IT professionals, MSPs, partners, and so many others. This blog post deviates a little from the more technical content I create to give thoughts on the VMware by Broadcom and some life lessons we can take away from this as an IT professional.
