Asus Eee Transformer Prime Release Date

****Update**** It looks as though the release date has been updated to December 19th. – as of what we know December 2nd.

The world of tablet computing is getting more and more exciting with great devices slated to hit the scene and continuing to push innovation in the industry.  Asus has really been turning up the heat on competitors with really ingenious design ideas and functionality that has set the bar high.  The Asus Eee Transformer Prime is no exception.  Coming on the heels of its predecessor the Eee Transformer, the Prime is set to take the scene with a storm using the new nVidia Tegra 3 Quad core CPU and graphics engine.  Also leveraging the latest version of Honeycomb (3.2) at release as well as an upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich coming soon, consumers will be getting the best of both hardware and software which doesn’t happen that often with new product releases.  Normally we see the hardware way ahead of the software.  However, Asus has done a great job with the Prime staging it to have the best of both worlds.

The real beauty of the Eee Transformer Prime is the “transformer” like quality where you can dock this tablet into a keyboard setup which also has an additional batter to also not only boost functionality but run time as well with a combined total of almost 16 hours of battery life in the docked mode!  Other specs include:

  • 10.1 LED Backlit screen with Super IPS+ (1280×180)
  • 1 GB DDR2 Memory
  • 32 GB/64 GB of internal storage
  • 802.11 b/g/n, bluetooth 2.1
  • 8 MP rear camera, 1.2 MP front facing camera
  • Mobile dock with a USB2.0 port and 1 SD Card Reader

This is going to be one hot item and the Release date is already been posted as December 8, or December 9.  Retailers such as J&R, BestBuy, Gamestop, Newegg, Amazon, and others have posted links to the preorder page.  However, many of these have removed the item from the search as they have most likely filled all their preorder inventory.  Amazon is one of the retailers that has since removed links to the tablet. This is going to be one hot item at $499.
