Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1

In this training video, I show what’s new in Proxmox Data Center Manager 1.1 and why this release is an important step forward for managing Proxmox in a centralized way. We look at the major new features. These include automated installations, centralized subscription management, improved Ceph visibility, local PDM metrics, and the new geographic infrastructure map. We start with what I think is the standout feature in Proxmox Data Center Manager 1.1: automated installations. I show how administrators can create reusable installation profiles directly inside PDM and define settings such as networking, disk configuration, localization, and other system preferences. These profiles generate answer files that can be streamed securely to target systems, allowing Proxmox VE installations to be deployed in a much more repeatable and consistent way.

We also look at how this automation can benefit both home labs and production environments. Instead of manually stepping through the same installation prompts on every new Proxmox host, administrators can build standardized deployment templates that make it easier to rebuild clusters, deploy multiple nodes, and reduce configuration mistakes. From there, we examine the new centralized subscription management capabilities in PDM 1.1. I explain how Proxmox subscriptions can now be managed from a central location rather than individually on every host, which becomes especially useful in larger enterprise environments with many managed Proxmox VE nodes.

We then move into the new Ceph monitoring and health visibility features. PDM 1.1 can aggregate information from multiple Ceph-enabled Proxmox clusters and provide centralized visibility into cluster health, OSD status, pools, monitors, managers, capacity, and other important storage conditions. The video also covers new local metrics for Proxmox Data Center Manager itself and the world map view for visualizing remote Proxmox infrastructure across different geographic locations. While the map may be less important for a typical home lab, it could be especially useful for MSPs and organizations managing Proxmox deployments across multiple sites.

By the end of the video, you will understand the major new features in Proxmox Data Center Manager 1.1, how automated Proxmox installations work, how centralized Ceph and subscription management are improving, and where PDM is heading as a broader centralized management platform for Proxmox environments.
