Networking Training Course: Practical Network Configuration, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting

The Networking Training Course is a practical video series designed to help you better understand, build, monitor, and troubleshoot the networks behind modern home labs and IT environments.

Instead of focusing only on networking theory, we look at the technologies and troubleshooting techniques you can use to understand what is actually happening on your network.

The series covers network monitoring concepts such as ARP and MAC address behavior, SNMP and RMON interface statistics, and traffic visibility using technologies such as sFlow and NetFlow. We also look at important troubleshooting areas including DNS, network latency, packet loss, and the signals that can help identify problems before they become larger outages.

Network design is another important part of the series. We explore VLANs and network segmentation, including why separating devices, servers, management traffic, and other workloads can make a home lab easier to secure and manage.

My goal with this series is to connect networking concepts with the practical situations you encounter when running real infrastructure. Understanding how traffic moves, how switches and routers see devices, and how to collect useful network telemetry can make troubleshooting dramatically easier.

Whether you are building your first segmented home lab network or want to improve the visibility and troubleshooting capabilities of an existing environment, this series gives you practical networking knowledge you can apply directly to your own infrastructure.
