The Home Lab Masterclass is a practical, step-by-step training series designed to help you build a home lab from the ground up while understanding the decisions behind it. Instead of simply showing you which buttons to click, we work through the planning, hardware, virtualization, and container technologies that make up a modern home lab.

We start with the fundamentals, including what a home lab is, who can benefit from building one, what equipment you actually need, what you can expect to spend, and why setting clear goals before buying hardware can save you time and money. We also look at different home lab architectures, including bare metal, virtualization, cloud, and hybrid approaches, so you can choose the design that makes sense for what you want to learn.

From there, we move into actually building the environment. You will see how to prepare a mini PC, download and install Proxmox VE, access and manage the Proxmox web interface, and keep the host updated.

The course then moves into the workloads you will run inside your lab. We walk through creating your first virtual machine, installing Ubuntu Server, downloading LXC container templates, deploying your first LXC container, and beginning to explore Docker containers.
