About this video
In this video, I will show you how to remove the Proxmox VE no-subscription nag message that displays each time you log in to the web management interface in Proxmox. This notification does not mean your Proxmox server will expire or stop working. It just means that the host does not have an active Proxmox subscription, which is common in home lab environments. We start by looking at the default subscription warning so you know exactly what we are referring to. Then, we will see how we can go to the Proxmox host shell and install ProxMenux, which is open source and provides a menu-driven utility that can remove the subscription nag.
After installing the tool, we launch its terminal user interface with the menu command. Then, we will see how to open the Proxmox post-install settings, choose the customizable installation option, and select only the subscription banner removal script. This allows us to make the specific interface change we want to without running every available post-installation optimization. Once the script finishes, we exit ProxMenux. Then we return to the Proxmox web interface on port 8006, log out, and sign back in to verify that the subscription popup is gone.
Removing the message does not activate a subscription or provide access to the enterprise repository and support services. A paid subscription should still be considered for production environments. However, for an unsubscribed Proxmox home lab, this gives you a quick and convenient way to remove the nag. By the end of this tutorial, you will know how to use ProxMenux to remove the Proxmox no-subscription nag from the web interface.
